Hijack drama Person sent to jail
The person booked in the Indigo flight hijack case has been sent to jail for 14 days. Two others were let off after questioning.
On Sunday, the passengers of an Indigo flight from Goa to Delhi went through what was perhaps the closest to a near-hijack situation - one that tested the preparedness of the airport officials and security apparatus.
Here is a blow-by-blow account of the ordeal the passengers went through and the security drill.
It began around 5.15 pm on Sunday when the pilot told the air traffic control that a couple of passengers were behaving aggressively, even threatening to hijack the plane.
All precautionary measures were immediately activated and the plane made an emergency landing at the Delhi airport at 5.29 pm.
The aircraft moved to an isolation bay and was cordoned off by CISF and NSG commandos.
The anti-hijacking committee of the government met immediately after which it was decided to disembark the passengers.
Finally, the door of the plane was opened around 8.30 pm as the NSG commandos stood next to the aircraft door.
The Home Minister told NDTV over the phone that the pilot correctly assessed the situation. Passengers too had some words of praise for the crew.
Police detained one person, Jitendra, for questioning but two others -- Sameer and Harpreet -- who were held for questioning were later released.
