HEROIN: COPS WORK ON COMMON LINK

With 30 kg heroin being seized in the state during the past five days, police is working on the link between those arrested and the possibility of there being a common operator on international level.
On April 7, Phagwara police arrested three smugglers and recovered 10 kg heroin from them. Then, on April 10, BSF personnel arrested two persons while they were trying to smuggle in 20 kg contraband through Khemkaran border. Now, the Phagwara police is contemplating of getting the production warrant of the two arrested by BSF so that they could be questioned in this connection.
"Interrogation of the three accused revealed that they had taken the consignment from two persons in Harike area, and notably, their international operator, a France-based man known as Gill, had told them just before their arrest that he will send a consignment of 20 kg heroin the next day and they could negotiate with more customers," claimed Phagwara DSP HPS Khakh. He added that they were planing to bring the two on production warrant to explore the link between the two consignments.
It may be recalled that Phagwara police had arrested the three persons, including a former terrorist and a Hawala operator, with the consignment. Police are apprehending the angle of narco-terrorism in this case. After their arrest, it was revealed that the accused had connections in France, England, Pakistan and Dubai.
