Punjab News Heat waves tighten grip in Punjab and Haryana

Heat wave conditions tightened its grip in Punjab and Haryana today with Hisar settling at a high of 42 deg C, three notches above normal.

According to the MeT office here, the maximum temperature hovered between one to four deg C above normal in the region. Frequent power tripping and disruption in supply of potable water at a few places added to the woes of people, officials said here.

Amritsar had a high of 40.5 deg C, which was four notches above normal, followed by Patiala at 40.1 deg C and Ludhiana at 39.9 deg C. Among other places, Karnal recorded a high of 38.8 deg C, Ambala at 38.4 deg C and Chandigarh at 37.6 deg C, each recording one degree above normal. The MeT forecast dry weather with possibility of thunderstorms and dust storms at isolated places during the next two days.
