Haryana to Institute award for Sanskrit litterateurs

Chandigarh October 23:

Haryana Governor Jagannath Pahadia announced the institution of Haryana Sanskrit Gaurav Puraskar for Sanskrit litterateurs from next year and said it would carry a cash prize of Rs 1.50 lakh.

The government has also increased the prize money for Guru Virjanand Acharya Puraskar, Vidhya Martand Pandit Sita Ram Acharya Puraskar and Pandit Yudhistir Mimansak Acharya Puraskar to Rs 51,000 each. The announcements were made during Sanskrit Sahityakar Samman Samaroh at Haryana Raj Bhawan here, where Pahadia honoured 12 Sanskrit litterateurs.

Congratulating the litterateurs, Pahadia said the scholars "have contributed a lot to keep the language alive and Sanskrit has been preserved as a heritage in our religious scriptures." Meanwhile in another act that would benefit litterateurs, Haryana government today announced free travel facility in state-owned buses to scholars above 75 years of age.
