Bhanu October 25:

It was the canines trained at Panchkula-based Indo-Tibetan Border Police's (ITBP) dog training centre that played a significant role in ensuring a safe culmination of Commonwealth Games.

Dogs trained at the centre also have to their credit of searching and saving some of the lives in the aftermath of the killer cloudburst of Ladakh. But, Haryana may loose its pride and acclaimed National Centre for Training of Dogs and Animals (NCTDA) located at Bhanu in Panchkula district, as the non-availablity of required land to run the institute may force ITBP to shift the centre to another state or part of the country.

At present the centre is running from one portion of the campus of the Basic Training Centre ( BTC) Bhanu, but with rising demand from other police forces for training their dogs here, the centre requires minimum 120 acre land to meet the training requirment.
