Guard stops duo from taking selfies on Worli sea link, abducted

The Bandra police, with the help of VB Nagar police, have arrested two men who allegedly abducted a private security guard posted at the Bandra- Worli sea link, after he stopped them from clicking selfies on Friday afternoon.
The incident occur red at around 3.45pm when the accused — Anil Shelke, 38, and Ragunath Jadhav, 20 — stopped their vehicle on the sea link. While Shelke is the owner of the car, Jadhav is his driver.
They then got out and started clicking selfies. They were spotted on CCTV cameras by security personnel.
Security supervisor Prashant Kedar and complainant Tanvir Ansari reached the spot where they were taking selfies.
Kedar told them that they will have to go to Bandra police station and pay a fine of Rs5,500 for stopping the car on the sea link and clicking photos.
Ansari then sat in the car and the duo promised that they will drive directly to Bandra police station.
Instead, they drove towards Kurla on pretext of dropping a third person, who was also seated with them. After they dropped the person, they drove further ahead towards Kurla (West).
“When Ansari tried to make a phone call to his senior Kedar, one of the accused, stopped him and slapped him,” said senior police inspector Pandit Thakare of Bandra police station.
“Kedar suspecting that something was amiss called the control room and a message was sent on wireless.
The VB Nagar police caught them during a nakabandi and registered an FIR ,” added Thakare.
During the investigation, the duo said they didn’ t want to pay the hefty fine of Rs5,500 and intended to flee after dropping Ansari on the highway.
The duo have been booked under IPC sections 365 (abducting with intent secretly and wrongfully to confine person ),323( causing hurt ),506 (2) (criminal intimidation), 34 (common intention). They were remanded to police custody.
