Gold drops further on stockist offering, silver slips

Gold prices dropped further at the bullion market here today due to persistent stockists and speculative selling amidst bearish global outlook.

Silver too, slipped on speculative profit selling on the back of reduced industrial demand. Standard gold (99.5 purity) declined by Rs 80 per ten grams to close at Rs 18,855 from last Thursday's closing level of Rs 18,935. Pure gold (99.9 purity) fell by Rs 105 per ten grams to finish at Rs 18,945, as against Rs 19,050 previously.

Silver ready (.999 fineness) moved down by Rs 65 per kilo to Rs 32,090 from Rs 32,155 earlier. In Europe, Spot gold was quoted almost flat at USD 1,245.45 an ounce in early trade, as against USD 1,245 in New York last Friday. Spot silver was at USD 19.91 an ounce as against USD 19.84.
