JALANDHAR: A 15-year-old girl committed suicide by consuming sulphas tablets in her house in Paddi Khalsa village near Goraya on Friday evening.
While initially the family said the girl committed suicide after she came to know that she had failed in her eighth standard board exam, later in a statement recorded with the police it was claimed that she consumed poison
mistakingly.
The girl had failed in her eighth standard exam last year and this year also she could not succeed. She was studying in Government School, Goahawar, last year and had taken the exam as a private student this time.
Just after the incident her parents had told fellow villagers that Parween had been under tension for the last few days. Later they claimed she consumed poison believing it to be some medicine.
However the villagers are taking this claim with a pinch of salt.
