Patiala December 31:

BJP’s ticket aspirants face party president Nitin Gadkari’s ‘eleventh hour’ scrutiny of their poll prospects in the ‘last 10 to 12 days’. With the BJP Central Election Committee is expected to take a final call on its list of candidates for Punjab in the next two days, this scrutiny may turn out to be the key to ticket allotment.

“It would be a recent survey about the swings in the poll prospects of the BJP ticket aspirants in the last 10 to 12 days and the whole exercise would be carried out mostly on on January 1 by BJP president Nitin Gadkari himself,” a senior BJP leader said on condition of anonymity. “The survey will revolve around the candidates’ winnability,” added the leader.

Scores of BJP leaders from Punjab are in New Delhi for the ticket allotment. However, the debate over the Lokpal Bill has kept the top leadership occupied and the issue of allotment of tickets to party candidates for Punjab polls has been delayed.
