Post Fuel prices may be cut soon: Deora

New Delhi January 8:
Petroleum Minister Murli Deora announced that the Central government may announce another cut in fuel prices soon.
Deora said that apart from a cut in petrol and diesel prices, the rates of domestic LPG cylinders might also be slashed. "We will try to reduce the prices of petrol and diesel in the next 2-3 weeks," Deora told reporters at the AICC headquarters here. Asked about the extent of reduction, he said it has still not been decided.
To a question on cooking gas prices, Deora said: "There was loss on that count to the government." He, however, hinted at a reduction of Rs 20-25 per cylinder. The government had last cut fuel prices on December 5, 2008 amid plunging global crude oil prices. Petrol prices were cut by Rs 5 per litre, while diesel became cheaper by Rs 2 last month. No cut was however announced in LPG cylinder prices at that time.
International oil prices at the moment are hovering around USD 50. The minister meanwhile expressed unhappiness over the truckers' strike, saying: "Somebody perhaps is misguiding them," while quickly adding that the strike did not even concern his ministry.
