FAKE CURRENCY SEIZED IN AMRITSAR

Sleuths of special narcotics cell and counter intelligence recovered Rs nine lakh worth fake Indian currency notes after the arrest of cross-border heroin and fake note smuggler Darbara Singh alias Bara, a resident of Wan Tara Singh.
According to Tulsi Ram, SSP, Narcotics, Darbara was apprehended in Tarn Taran when he was waiting to deliver the consignment of 18 packets containing hundred 500-rupee notes. A case has been registered under sections 489 A, 489 B, 489 C, 420 of IPC.
He said preliminary investigations have revealed that Darbara Singh had close links with notorious Pak and Indian smugglers and was actively involved in cross border smuggling of heroin and fake currency.
