Chandigarh: Man’s best friend, that’s what Tiger tried living up to on Thursday night, even if it meant risking its own life. Taking human-canine relationship to a new height, a five-year-old German Shepherd jumped into a fire to rescue his master’s kids in Kaimbwala village, little knowing that its undying loyalty would go in vain.
With blistered burns around its eyes, muzzle and stomach, Tiger sat outside the charred shanty of labourer Hari Ram, visibly saddened by the fact that Kuldeep, 3, and Sandeep, 1, did not survive even as he managed to pull them out. The poignant tale of affection got reflected in the half-burnt leash to which Tiger had been tied when the freak accident took place.
Tiger had jumped in fire to rescue the trapped kids, he managed to pull them out but their survival looked bleak. Rushed to PGI after a delay of half-an-hour, the kids were declared brought dead.
