AHMEDABAD: She held her brother in her arms as he went into the throes of death. Hetal Shukla nee Rathod cannot get over those horrifying memories. She simply cannot come to terms how her brother Vishal was snatched away in a matter of seconds, just a day before he was to fix his engagement for marriage. Vishal was among those who were killed by the serial blasts on July 26.

Jignesh Shukla, brother-in-law of Vishal says, "Vishal decided to go and drop Hetal to Vatva. The two left home, and suddenly Hetal asked Vishal to stop as she wanted to purchase dry cells for the camera."

He further said that Vishal was purchasing the batteries when the first blast happened. Vishal told Hetal that he would go and see what had happened. "However, Hetal even tried to stop him by catching his hand. But death turned out to be more powerful than the clutches of Hetal," says a tearful Jignesh. Before he left, Vishal had said there would be some one who would be in need of his help and hence he has to go. When he reached the spot, there was a second blast and Vishal along with one Ankit was injured. Hetal immediately called up 108 and took the two to the hospital. However, the two injured did not survive.

Vishal worked as a site supervisor in a construction company. According to him, some of their relatives were coming to finalise Vishal’s engagement but before the engagement could be finalised, the groom died. Jignesh said Vishal was the only earning member of the family as his father Amrish had died.
