A 33-year old man, working with a private healthcare company, allegedly committed suicide by jumping in front of a Metro train in west Delhi’s Rajouri Garden on Thursday.
The victim, identified as Pramod Kumar, a resident of Uttam Nagar, was reportedly depressed after he was rejected by the woman he loved. Police said a suicide note was recovered from his pocket, in which he said that he was ending his life as the woman he loved had turned down his proposal.
Kumar, police said, reached the metro station at 9:30am and went to platform number 1. He jumped in front of a train as it was pulling into the station. The driver of the train did not get time to apply the emergency brakes and Kumar was run over. He was dragged for several metres. The incident caused panic at the station.
“The passengers informed the metro authorities and the CISF who informed the police. Kumar, who was stuck between the tracks and the metro, was pulled out and rushed to Deen Dyal Upadhyay hospital where he was declared dead on arrival. His body has been sent for a postmortem examination and his family informed,” a senior police officer said.
