After the Delhi Police earlier this week unearthed an alleged terrorist plot of the Lashkar-e-Toiba (LeT) to target “high-profile personalities” in Delhi by carrying out fidayeen attacks, a special cell team has been sent to Jammu and Kashmir to probe the matter.
On December 1, the Delhi Police Special Cell was tipped off that two alleged LeT operatives, Dujana and Ukasha, based in J&K, are conspiring to target high-profile personalities in Delhi by carrying out fidayeen or grenade attacks themselves or through their cadres. The special cell said the two men had infiltrated into J&K from Pakistan Occupied Kashmir (PoK).
The team is likely to seek interrogation of two alleged LeT overground workers (OGW), who were arrested on November 3 and 24 from Pulwama and Bhatindi in J&K, according to the police.
The arrested OGWs had reportedly revealed that they were working under the leadership of south Kashmir-based militant Dujana, suspected to be top LeT militant Abu Dujana. They alleged Dujana and his main aide Ukasha—suspected to be Abu Ukasha—were allegedly plotting Udhampur-like attacks in north Indian cities, including Delhi, according to the police.
The police said it was searching for Dujana and Ukasha and about six other suspected LeT operatives working under them, who have also allegedly infiltrated into J&K. The police were also investigating a suspected arms deal involving the LeT. The special cell has registered an FIR.
