Srinagar October 31:

Curfew was clamped in three towns of north Kashmir as authorities apprehended breach of peace even as normal life in the rest of the Valley was disrupted due to a strike called by the hardline Hurriyat Conference.

Curfew was imposed in Delina and Palahalan towns of Baramulla district and Bandipora district town in the wee hours, a police spokesman said. The restrictions were clamped as a precautionary measure following reports that some persons were planning to create law and order problems.

Bandipora has witnessed clashes between protestors and security forces after a shopkeeper was arrested by police recently. Although there were no restrictions elsewhere in the Valley, normal life remained affected due to the strike called by Hurriyat Conference led by Syed Ali Shah Geelani. Shops, business establishments and private offices remained closed in most parts of the Valley.
