A Mahoba court has issued a contempt notice to Samajwadi Party national president Mulayam Singh Yadav for failing to appear before it and asked him to appear in person on October 1.
Taking suo motu cognizance of a controversial statement about rape made by the SP patriarch, Kulpahad tehsil court judicial magistrate Ankit Goyal had issued summons asking him to appear in court on September 16.
But Mulayam failed to appear before court, prompting it to issue a contempt notice. The notice comes after Bhagirath Yadav, reportedly close to the SP national president, pressured the judicial magistrate’s landlord to evict him from his house following the summons.
During a public functionin Lucknow on August 18, Mulayam had claimed “a rape by four people was not practically possible.”
