Couple held for sacrificing girl

NAKODAR: The murder of a three-year-old girl, in village Talwandi Bharo has turned out to be a case of human sacrifice allegedly planned and executed by a woman resident of the village along with her husband.

The woman, who acted as the tantrik (witch doctor), and her husband have been arrested.

Preliminary questioning has revealed that the accused couple was childless and under debt and believed that killing the child would end those problems. The highly decomposed body of Muskan was found near her home on May 13 in a gunny bag that some dogs were dragging. She had gone missing on May 2.

Nakodar SHO Satinder Kumar said the accused, Baksho, was a strong believer in black magic and even had a"worshipping place" for the purpose in her house.
