COP KILLS SON
Gurdaspur April 30:
A cop killed his son by hitting him on his head with a blunt weapon after an altercation took place at their residence in Sohal village, 15 kms from here, afternoon and escaped after the murder.
Gurdaspur DSP (R) Pradeep Malik said Baljinder Singh, alias Lovely (33), who was on bail in a murder case, was drinking since Tuesday morning and threatened to kill his wife with a sword. At his violent behaviour, an altercation took place between him and his father Makhan Singh, a constable posted at Gurdaspur Civil Lines. Makhan hit his son on his head with a 'kassi' and he died on the spot.
Baljinder, father of two children, was an alcoholic and was behind bars for his involvement in a murder case and had come home after Punjab and Haryana High Court granted him bail, Malik said. Dhariwal SHO Jarnail Singh said a case of murder has been registered against Makhan, who was absconding.
