In an embarrassment to police, cops in Bhadson have impounded a stolen generator from a constable.

Though a case under section 379 IPC was registered on Wednesday, no arrest has been made as constable Ranjodh Singh, posted in Patiala city, is reportedly absconding.

To overcome electricity shortage and meet the high demand of water for paddy, farmer Malkiat Singh, resident of Tohra village, had purchased a generator to run his tubewell in case of electricity failure, around four months back.

But two months later, some unknown persons stole it from the fields where it was fitted. Malkiat thought it to be a handiwork of thieves and tried to locate the missing generator by going to adjoining villages and even took the help of public address systems in various villages to announce the theft.

But when he could not get any clue, he lodged a complaint with police.

Though it was not confirmed as yet whether Malkiat himself found the generator or police had seized it, on Wednesday evening, police recovered the stolen generator and also impounded a tractor from near Rurka, the native village of Ranjodh.
