PM Narendra Modi, on his first trip to his Lok Sabha constituency in over eight months, today launched a scathing attack on the Congress for being critical of his government’s social welfare measures.
“All these years ‘garibi hatao’ has been just a slogan. Those who made no effort to open bank accounts for poor for 50 years now are asking me why the accounts are not being operated?” said Modi addressing a function here.
Promising to do in 50 months what had not been achieved in 50 years, the Prime Minister said he would empower the poor with skill development and technology in order to make them self-reliant and empowered.
He distributed 101 E-rickshaws, 501 cycle-rickshaws and hand carts, cycle carts and solar lanterns to poor people of his constituency.
Introducing the concept of the “personal sector”, Modi said in the coming days a campaign would be launched to make it the backbone of the Indian economy. As part of the personal sector, Modi said, a large number of self-employed people would be supported through easy loans, technology, skill development, etc.
He brought cheer for the 1.70 lakh ‘shiksha mitras’ when he promised to work with the UP Government to resolve the crisis following the Allahabad High Court reversing their regularisation as assistant teachers.
