Post Cong hits back at BJP on 2G, cash-for-vote scam

New Delhi: The Congress on Wednesday hit back at the BJP for targeting the party on 2G controversy and cash-for-vote scam, saying the saffron party is playing an “unprincipled politics” in “desperate quest to grab power”.

“There is a cacophony by the BJP to show the government in poor light,” said Congress spokesperson Abhishek Manu Singhvi. Singhvi was addressing a press conference here.

The Congress spokesperson argued that the cash-for-vote scam was a creation of the BJP. “BJP MPs brought notes to the floor of the House and then made wild allegations against UPA government,” he said.

On the 2G controversy, Singhvi said the BJP is unfairly targeting Home Minister P Chidambaram. “In no way Chidambaram is criminally liable”, he said.

In the midst of scams and scandals, the Congress spokesperson argued that the UPA government has taken a series of concrete measures to check corruption.

Singhvi lashed out at the saffron party for what he says “creating political uncertainty.”

“This is the only way they could possibly grab power,” he said.

Singhvi’s statement came a day after Prime Minister Manmohan Singh accused certain "forces" of trying to destabilise the government and said that a "restless Opposition" was attempting to force early elections.
