Cong, bjp, cpi welcome obama's victory

The Congress, expressed confidence that the Indo-US ties, which are on a "sure and even keel", are expected to grow under the leadership of Barack Obama, who was elected as the 44th President of the US.
"Obama represents youthful energy, exuberant dynamism and a forward looking progressive mindset which is also the spirit animating India," Congress spokesman Abhishek Manu Singhvi told reporters.
The CPI described the election of Obama as "historic" and expressed hope that he would bring about a change in the US policies, particularly towards West and South Asia.
"Obama had sought votes for a change. People have supported him for a change. We hope he can really bring about a changes in the US policies towards the developing world, particularly in West and South Asia," CPI national secretary D Raja told reporters.
Obama's victory itself was historic because for the first time, a person from such a social and economic background has won the US presidential polls, he said. The BJP congratulated Obama and said it looked forward for his illustrious tenure and warm relations with India.
"We congratulate Barack Obama for being elected as the 44th President of the US," BJP Vice President Mukhtar Abbas Naqvi told reporters. "We look forward to an illustrious tenure and hope that he will fulfill his election promise of a warm relations with India," Naqvi said.
