Chief Minister Harish Rawat has said political and non-political organisations should collectively work to enroll larger number of residents under the Chief Minister Health Insurance Scheme. He was speaking at a function organised by the Uttarakhand Kamgar Mahasangh to felicitate him here today.
Rawat said the government had set a target to generate an additional revenue of Rs 500 crore to launch more welfare activities for residents. The primary focus of the government was to give social security to every section of society. The Chief Minister appealed to residents to generously donate their used or old woollen clothes for the poor living on pavements in the city.
Speaking on the proposed smart city project, Rawat expressed concern that the proposal would be deferred for another two or three years if the Union Government failed to give its nod to the project. The smart city was planned to provide home to lower and middle income group people.
He assured the gathering that financial constraints would not become a barrier for developing infrastructure in the rural and hilly areas of the state. The government had started welfare schemes for medical representatives and newspaper hawkers as part of its social welfare activities, he added.
Chief Minister’s media advisor Surendra Kumar, Uttarakhand Kamghar Mahasangh chairman Asha Manorma Dobriyal Sharma, Pradesh Congress Committee Women Cell state president Sarita Arya and Deepak Sharma were also present during the felicitation ceremony.
