Clashes in Kerala over road accidents

Thiruvananthapuram: Clashes erupted yesterday in two places in the state due to traffic accidents. At Bharanikavu near Sasthamkotta in Kollam district, a man and his daughter were killed when a private bus knocked down the motorcycle they were riding on and ran over them.

Enraged crowd set buses on fire, preventing police and fire personnel from reaching the accident spot.

The incident happened at 8am yesterday, when K. Sasidharan,50, was taking his daughter Athira, 17, to an institute.

In another incident of violence, pupils and police clashed at Eranjippalam near Kozhikode yesterday morning. Protesters alleged that two of their friends who were riding a bike were severely injured when police officers pulled the bike's handle, causing them to lose balance.
