Though the BJP’s list of star campaigners for the Bihar Assembly polls is out, the JD-U is yet to announce its popular leaders with the Chief Minister blowing the first election bugle in a rally at Kalyanpur tomorrow.
The JD-U is likely to release its list of campaigners, including KC Tyagi and Bashish Narayan Singh, after the Election Commission’s approval within a day or two. “The party has to follow a set procedure before releasing the names. The list will be sent to the EC before being made public,” said Shyam Rajak, former state minister and JD-U general secretary. Other parties are yet to declare the names of their campaigners.
Nitish Kumar would address an election rally at Birouli of Kalyanpur constituency for JD-U candidate Maheshwar Hazari. This constituency is reserved for Scheduled Caste. Nitish is expected to recount the developmental story of his reign of 10 years. RJD supremo Lalu Prasad would also storm the election rally with his traditional style on September 27 at Terasia Diara of Raghopur constituency from where his son Tejaswi Prasad Yadav is contesting.
Bihar’s additional chief electoral officer R Lakshmanan said: “Total 629 candidates had filed nomination for the first phase, while we have rejected 24 as their papers were found incorrect. Candidatures can be withdrawn till September 26.”
