Chandigarh March 31:
Union Minister of State for Finance Pawan Bansal, the Congress candidate for the lone Lok Sabha seat from Chandigarh, said that the day was not far when the City Beautiful would boast of a bullet train passing through it.

Addressing a press conference at Congress Bhawan here, Mr. Bansal said this was part of various plans being mooted for overall growth and development of the country by the UPA Government at the Centre.

Mr. Bansal said a proposal was under way to make the first integrated transport railway station here on the same lines as existing abroad. The railway station would cover both surface and air transport facilities under the same roof and ease the problems of people, he added. He said Chandigarh along with Nagpur had been identified to be declared as a “solar city” which, he said, would be a boon for the people.

Meanwhile, Chandigarh Territorial Congress Committee president B.B. Bahl launched a website, “Pawan Bansal for Chandigarh” ( :: Mr. Pawan Bansal :: ) so that people could track all the inflow and outflow of funds used under various heads for development and growth of Chandigarh. Also, all records of what Mr. Bansal has done up till now would be accessible.
