Surendra Kumar, media in charge of Chief Minister Harish Rawat, alleged that the BJP high command had asked the five Uttarakhand MPs not to comment on the alleged discrimination being meted out against Uttarakhand. He was addressing mediapersons here today.
He cornered the BJP MPs for not apprising Prime Minister Narendra Modi about the grievances of residents of the state during his recent visit to Rishikesh.
Kumar said the BJP MPs had failed to take up the state’s issues to Parliament, despite the fact that BJP was at the Centre.
He expressed concern over change in funding pattern of beneficiary schemes sanctioned by the Central Government, as it had incurred a financial loss of nearly Rs 2,500 crore to the state.
Kumar alleged that the state had borne financial loss of Rs 1,530 crore under normal financial assistance, while Rs 700 crore and Rs 350 crore losses were incurred under special financial assistance and special component plan, respectively, for 2014-15 under the 14th Finance Commission.
He corned the BJP-led Central Government for not providing updated information on beneficiary schemes and projects being run by the government.
Rebuffing allegations made by Leader of the Opposition in Vidhan Sabha Ajay Bhatt over a promotion scam in the Police Department, Kumar said sub inspectors were promoted to the rank of inspectors considering their education qualifications, physical standards and experience of service.
The state government had strictly followed the procedure drafted by the BJP during its regime while promoting SIs to the rank of inspectors, he added.
