Aamir Khan, Mr. Prefectionist, or Ace Khan, as he prefers to call himself, gave the film industry much reason to celebrate with the stupendous success of his latest release, 3 IDIOTS. The year 2009, which had been a disastrous one for the film industry, in terms of revenue generated, breathed a sigh of relief towards the latter part of the year and the industry has high hopes of continuing the good luck this year too.
However, these hopes are not unfounded as the first month itself will see, Salman Khan bludgeoning all opposition in the epic period drama, VEER, which is all set to strike the screens on 22nd January, worldwide. Directed by Anil Sharma, known for handling period drama with aplomb (who can forget his all time blockbuster GADAR-EK PREM KATHA), the film has some lilting music and is being promoted quite aggressively, and has all chances of turning out a winner. And the month of February, the Valentine weekend, that is 12th February to be precise, will witness the release of perhaps the biggest project of 2010, MY NAME IS KHAN, starring Shahrukh Khan and Kajol. Being directed by Karan Johar, who in the past has an impeccable record with SRK and Kajol, the film is eagerly awaited as it brings back Bollywood's most loved 'jodi' (SRK-Kajol) after a gap of almost 9-years! The film's music by the talented trio, Shankar-Ehsaan-Loy, which is heavily 'sufi' based, is being loved and appreciated by the discerning public, and with the kind of promotion that the film is witnessing, it will surely peak at the right time and give the industry another reason to keep up the celebrations that began with 3 IDIOTS.

After all, for the past two decades it has mostly been the Khans bailing the industry out of a crisis. SRK did it last year with RAB NE BANA DI JODI and Aamir followed it up with GHAJINI. Here's hoping for a repeat of a similar success story this year too, with Shahrukh Khan and Salman Khan playing important innings, after a century knock by Aamir Khan
