Bhattal Hits Back, Says Amarinder Has Nexus With Bjp

The feud in Punjab Congress aggravated on Wednesday with Punjab Congress chief Rajinder Kaur Bhattal hitting back at her known critic and former Chief Minister Amarinder Singh accusing him of having nexus with BJP and warned him of disciplinary action.
Refuting Singh's charge that she was having "friendly political match" with the state's Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD), Bhattal charged the former Chief Minister was having nexus with BJP through his close relative and former Union Minister K Natwar Singh. "There are clear indications that Amarinder is having nexus with BJP, which is evident from that fact that he did not utter even a single word against former Deputy Prime Minister L K Advani following controversies that erupted after the publication of his book (my country my life)", Bhattal, told reporters in Jalandhar.
"Even during his tenure as Chief Minister, Amarinder Singh did not file even a single case against former BJP ministers", Bhattal said. On the issue of Arusa Alam, a Pakistani journalist being a "close friend" of Amarinder Singh, Bhattal said Congress was facing "acute embarrassment" due to this. "Amarinder instead should have given attention to the assembly session, which he never did", she added.
Issuing a virtual warning to Amarinder, Bhattal asked him to mend his ways as otherwise the disciplinary committee of the party would be forced to take appropriate action against him. "It seems Amarinder has become jittery after the filing of a corruption case against him in the Ludhiana City Centre scam and has no courage to face the charges", Bhattal said and asked why he was not appearing on the dates of the corruption case filed against the SAD government against him.
Referring to Amarinder Singh's allegation that she has tacit understanding with Akali Dal, Bhattal shot back "enough in enough and we shall tolerate no more". She asked Amarinder to remain within limits of the discipline and culture of congress and said he should not test their tolerance limits and desist from "anti-party" activities.
The strained between the two Congress stalwarts in the state came to the fore once again when Amarinder Singh refused to attend a meeting of the coordination for conciliation between them called by the party high command at Delhi yesterday. The PPCC president said Amarinder Singh had changed parties several times during this period.
Refuting the charge that she was hand in with the Akali-BJP government and did not side with the Congress workers suffering political vendetta during the Akali-BJP regime, she said she was sorry to find that during Amarinder Singh's government 26 "false" cases had been instituted against Congress workers. "When SAD-BJP combine confronted us with the list of these cases inside the state assembly during the debate, we were embarrassed only because of his actions", she added.
