BATALA: After Qadian MC chief Narinder Kumar Bhatia's kidnapping on Monday, now a trader, who runs a spare parts shop at Kotli Surat Malhi village, about 20 km from here, was kidnapped when he was on his way to Amritsar on Thursday evening. The area police found his motorcycle near Bhalowali village on Majitha Fatehgarh Churian link road near a canal and launched a search for the kidnappers after having registered a case of abduction.

Talking to TOI on phone, Rajinder Kumar, younger brother of the kidnap victim, said his brother Vijay Kumar, 35, of Mohlowali village had left his shop at Kotli Surat Malhi bus stand at 3.45 pm for Amritsar on his Hero Honda motorcycle. After a short while he rang up from his cellphone to tell his younger brother that he was being followed by some persons in an Indica car.

Rajinder said on hearing this he, along with his friend, left immediately on a two-wheeler and found his motorcycle abandoned near Bhalowal village distributary. Initially, they started a frantic search for Vijay but when they had no success they informed the police.

"Since my brother was carrying lot of cash, we suspect he was kidnapped by the persons following him in the car," he said.

However, no ransom call has been received so far by the family, Rajinder said.

Ghania ke Bangar SHO Amolak Singh, under whose jurisdiction the area falls, said while an FIR had been registered police teams had been formed in this connection. Batala police chief SSP NK Arora said the area police was also seeking help of the Amritsar police in this regard.
