BADAL INVITES DUBAI ENTREPRENEURS TO INVEST IN PUNJAB

Chandigarh November 21:

On the last leg of his week-long tour to Israel, Egypt and the UAE, Punjab Chief Minister Parkash Singh Badal asked the Indian Business and Professional Council (IBPC) and the Confederation of Indian Industries (CII) to jointly explore possibilities of developmental initiatives in the various sectors in the State.

Taking part in deliberations with the members of IBPC-Dubai at a business conclave in Dubai, Mr Badal asked the prospective entrepreneurs for business tie-ups in social sector projects like low-cost housing and potable drinking water in the rural areas.

He also impressed upon the Dubai-based construction companies and eminent builders to construct low-cost housing colonies in Punjab for the economically weaker sections of society and assured that the requisite land for this would be provided by the village panchayats. Likewise, he also emphasised on the need to participate in the state government's ambitious plan to set up Adarsh Schools in the state.

The Chief Minister was accompanied by his Media Advisor Harcharn Bains, Secretary Science Technology and Environment Viswajit Khanna and his Special Secretary Mr K J S Cheema. Consulate General of India in Dubai, A Rajamony also attended the conclave.

Giving the details of the meeting, Chief Minister's Media Advisor Harcharan Bains said the IBPC is the only representative organisation of Indian businessman and professionals recognised by the Dubai Chamber of Commerce and Industry (DCCI). Mr Badal underscored the need to set up infrastructure ventures in collaboration to give a face lift to the existing infrastructure in the state.
