Dehradun: Even as his health condition is deteriorating rapidly, yoga guru Baba Ramdev continued his hunger-strike for the eight consecutive day, Saturday.

THE fasting yoga guru Baba Ramdev was Friday rushed to a Dehradun hospital's intensive care unit. Doctors decided to shift him to the ICU of Himalayan Medical Institute as his vital parameters were weak.

Meanwhile, worried over yoga guru’s worsening condition, Uttarakhand Chief Minister Ramesh Pokhriyal once again appealed to Baba to end his indefinite hunger strike.

Uttarakhand CM also said his government supported Ramdev in his fight against corruption and his demand for bringing back illegal money stashed abroad.

Noted social activist and a prominent member of Team Anna, Swami Agnivesh had met Union Finance Minister Pranab Mukherjee, on Friday, to discuss methods to take negotiations with Baba Ramdev forward.

However, reports suggested that the central government has refused to initiate any talks with the yoga guru.

Spiritual guru Sri Sri Ravishankar had met Ramdev at the hospital and requested the Yoga guru to end his fast. Anna Hazare also appealed to the Centre and said government should intervene on humanitarian grounds and talk to Baba Ramdev.

Ramdev has been on a fast since June 4, when his rally at Delhi's Ramlila Ground was dispersed by the police in a midnight crackdown.

Meanwhile, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has asked the government to announce effective measures to save Ramdev's life.

"The whole country is revolting against corruption. The government of India should not keep it's ego first," BJP spokesperson Ravi Shankar Prasad said.

"They must announce some strong and effective action, his life is precious for the country," he said.

With the health of yoga guru Baba Ramdev deteriorating, senior Congress leader Pranab Mukherjee met Prime Minister Manmohan Singh yesterday evening to discuss measures to resolve the impasse.

The two leaders are believed to have deliberated over the strategy to deal with Baba who is fasting for a stringent Lokpak Bill and to bring back black money stashed abroad.
