Ramallah: A Palestinian official says an autopsy shows that a 10-year-old boy killed in a West Bank confrontation with Israeli forces was shot by live fire.

The autopsy of Ahmed Moussa was conducted on Wednesday in the West Bank town of Ramallah.

Ramallah governor Said Abu Ali says the autopsy indicates that the boy was struck by a bullet from an M16 rifle.

The Israeli military is investigating the boy's death, which occurred on Tuesday in the West Bank village of Naalin. Villagers have been protesting for months against Israel's separation barrier.

The military says it is sending troops with better riot control training to Naalin following the boy's death.
