Australia bowled out India for 135 in 17.4 overs to register a comprehensive 49-run victory in the crucial Super Eights match of the Twenty20 World Cup at Barbados.

Chasing a challenging 185-run target, India lost wickets at regular intervals and failed to maintain any momentum in their run chase.

Australia pacer Dirk Nannes (3-25) took three early wickets to rock the India innings from which the 2007 champions could not resurrect their chase. Later Shaun Tait (3-21) too took his share of three wickets to wrap up the India innings.

Rohit Sharma (79 not out) top-scored for India with his 46-ball blitzkrieg as he slammed four fours and six sixes. Only Harbhajan Singh (13) was the other batsman to register double figure score.

Ravinder Jadeja (4) got run out in the eleventh over as India were reduced to 50/7 in 10.3 overs.

Mitchell Johnson dismissed Yusuf Pathan (2) in the ninth over after spinner Steven Smith scalped India skipper MS Dhoni (1) in the previous over.

Australia pacer Dirk Nannes struck for the third time to dismiss Yuvraj Singh (1) in the fifth over and reduced India to 23/4 in 5 overs.

Shaun Tait scalped in-form Suresh Raina (5) in the fourth over after Nannes took two wickets in the previous over. Nannes struck twice in the third over to get rid of both openers Gautam Gambhir (9) and Murali Vijay (2) cheaply and early.

Earlier, openers David Warner (72) and Shane Watson (54) put on 104-run partnership to help Australia post 184/5 against India at Barbados.

Sent in to bat, Aussie openers punished the Indian bowlers and raced to their respective fifties in no time. Watson was the severe among them in the beginning and hit a four and six huge sixes, three consecutive off Ravinder Jadeja, in his 32-ball 54 blitzkrieg. He was the first wicket to fall when he was clean bowled by Yusuf Pathan in the 11th over.

Warner took charge soon and also hit three consecutive sixes off Jadeja, en route to his 42-ball 72 comprising two fours and seven huge sixes. Warner was looking ominously dangerous for India before Yuvraj Singh scalped him in the 14th over.

Yuvraj struck again soon in the 17th over to get rid of Brad Haddin (8) but David Hussey (35) continued the Australian charge as he hit three fours and two sixes in his 22-ball quick-fire inning.

For India, Harbhajan Singh was the pick of the bowlers as he conceded just 15 runs in his four overs including a maiden opening over of the match whereas, Ashish Nehra (2-31) and Yuvraj Singh (2-20) took two wickets each.

Earlier, India skipper Mahendra Singh Dhoni won the toss and decided to field against Australia on Friday.
