AMRITSAR: Another Pakistani undertrial Rashida Begum (65) died here at the Amritsar Central jail on Wednesday.
BS Bhullar, deputy superintendent of jails, informed TOI that Rashida suddenly collapsed while she was being handed over to the police by the jail staff for producing her in a court.
She was immediately rushed to the civil hospital, where she was declared brought dead.Earlier, India had repatriated bodies of two Pakistani prisoners Khalid Mehmood and Mohammad Akram. Rashida was arrested about two years ago along with five kg of heroin.
She was travelling with her two daughters Fatima and Mumtaz, who were also in jail. Bhullar said they had informed the Pakistan High Commission about the death of Rashida for completing the necessary formalities for repatriation of her body.
