Chandigarh October 26:

Punjab Pradesh Congress Committee (PPCC) president Amarinder Singh said the proposed Punjab Bachao yatra, being organised by the state Congress, would be led by him in coordination with the party incharge Gulchain Singh Charak.

Referring to reports in a section of the media that the Congress high command had not nominated any particular leader to lead the yatra and it would be a collective effort, the PPCC President made it clear that the programme had been chalked out in due consultation with the party incharge and he along with Mr Charak would lead the yatra and address the public meetings across the state.

At the same time, he added, all the senior leaders of the party were being involved and associated with the yatra and they would be ''part and parcel'' of this month-long programme. The former Chief Minister pointed out that it was quite natural that the pPCC President should and would be leading all the programmes of the party in the state in coordination and consultation with the party incharge and other party colleagues in the state. ''Any misinterpretation in this regard is quite unwanted and undesirable and can lead only to confusion which the party can ill afford at this time,'' he asserted.
