Patna: After his party colleague, now nature looks set to play spoilsport with L.K. Advani's much-hyped rath yatra (chariot tour) against corruption to be started from veteran socialist leader Jaiprakash Narayan's birthplace in Bihar.
It has also led to tongue-wagging why the Bihar chief minister happily consented to flag off Advani's yatra after his initial hiccups.
Chances of BJP veteran Advani kicking off his much-flaunted anti-corruption campaign from a renowned socialist leader's birthplace in Bihar have turned bleak due to "uncooperative" nature.
CampaignAdvani is to start his campaign on October 11 from the village of Sitabdiara, the birthplace of Jaiprakash Narayan, popularly known as JP, in north Bihar's Saran district. State government authorities who conducted a thorough inspection of the site from where the BJP leader is set to launch his much-hyped rath yatra against corruption said the meeting ground at the proposed site is heavily waterlogged while the lone single-lane road leading to the village broken at many places due to severe flooding in the region.
Under the prevailing situation, it might not be possible for Advani to start his yatra from the proposed site on time, the authorities warned. They said chances of the stagnant water getting drained out in the next nine days look remote.
Officials said another public meeting ground at Manjhi, which is closer to the villag, could be a better option for Advani's rally against corruption.
Bigger relief
A much bigger relief for the BJP, though, is that since Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar has consented to flag off Advani's yatra, the state administration has swung into action to make all arrangement for this much-hyped event.
Initially, Advani was to begin his yatra from Karamsad in Gujarat, the birthplace of India's "iron man" Sardar Patel but later he changed his mind and decided to start it from J.'s birthplace in Bihar reportedly after he got cold response from his party colleague and Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi.
