New Delhi: Nine members of a family in Kurukshetra, Haryana are feared to have committed suicide.
Reportedly, the head of that family - a businessman - was struggling to repay a loan running into crores. The loan was taken from a leading private bank.
The head of the family was a successful businessman. He decided to take this extreme step after he defaulted on a loan repayment.
In a suicide note left behind, the businessman has accused 21 people of cheating him off a huge sum of money, which led to the loan default.
There is also a reference to harassment by loan recovery agents of that bank. Twelve bodies have been recovered from the canal in Kurukshetra.
The police has sent them for a post mortem of whom the hunt is on for the remaining seven members of the family.
SP AS Chawla says, “It may not be possible to confirm of it's a case of suicide or murder. Its only after the postmortem that we can clarify anything. We have been able to recover 11 bodies from there. These bodies could also be some, which have flown downstream on other occasions.”
“We are going for a twin strategy. We are trying to get the bodies to be identified by their families at the same time we have sent the bodies for postmortem. When we know the cause of death and find out the missing persons from all the police station from the area where the canal starts,” he added.
