A 28-year old man was killed and three others injured after they allegedly rammed their car into a stationary truck at Adchini traffic signal in south Delhi on Thursday night.
Police suspect that the four were allegedly under the influence of alcohol. Their Maruti Swift car was at a high speed when the accident took place.
The deceased, Harbhajan, worked in an IT firm. He was at the wheel. Of the injured, two are brothers - Shubham Dua and Aditya Ranjan, who work in merchant navy and the fourth friend was identified as Sumit Rana, also an IT professional.
The driver of the truck fled the spot leaving the vehicle behind.
A senior police officer said the accident took place around 11.30 pm when the four were returning home after dinner. “The car was in such a speed that its driver failed to locate the truck. The vehicle crashed into the truck,” said the officer.
The impact was such that the front portion of the car was mangled and the four were stuck inside. A passerby called the police, who then brought them out with the help of a rescue team. Three of them were taken to Rockland Hospital where Harbhajan was pronounced dead on admission. The fourth man was admitted to AIIMS Trauma Center.
Family members of the four were informed and a case under relevant sections of IPC was registered at the Vasant Vihar police station.
