26-YEAR-OLD CITY RESIDENT COMMITS SUICIDE IN HOTEL
Ludhiana June 4:
A 26-Year Old man committed suicide by hanging himself in a room in Hotel Som near Clock Tower. He has been identified as Amarjit Singh, a resident of Shimlapuri.
Inquiries reveal that Amarjit had got married about ten months ago. He dealt in the business of electronic goods. Police say Amarjit Singh had checked into the room late last evening. He had claimed to be a resident of Moga. He had told the hotel staff that he had come here to sell his bike, and wanted to stay for one night in the hotel.
Sources said that this morning when Amarjit did not open the room despite repeated knocks by the hotel staff, the hotel management reported the matter to the police. When the police came and got the door of the room opened, they found Amarjit Singh hanging. He had used his turban to hang himself. Division number 1 police have initiated inquest proceedings under section 174 of the Criminal Procedure Code (CrPC) in this regard.
