20 KILLED, 28 INJURED IN ROAD ACCIDENT IN NAINITAL

Dehradun July 4:
Twenty people, including four women, were killed and 28 injured when the bus carrying them rammed into a tree at Gadappu area of Nainital district.
The incident comes a day after 13 people lost their lives in a road accident in Uttarkashi district yesterday. The bus, carrying nearly 48 passengers, was going to Kashipur from Haldwani when the mishap occurred, Nainital SSP G S Mortolia said.
While 15 people were killed on the spot, five succumbed to injuries in the hospital, he said. The condition of some of the injured admitted in the hospital is stated to be critical. Mortolia said four children miraculously escaped unhurt. The mishap apparently occured when the front tyre of the bus burst and the vehicle lost balance.
The impact of the collision was so high that bus broke into two pieces, Mortolia said. Nearly 300 people have so far been killed and over 500 people injured this year in road accidents in different parts of the hill state.

it happens many times every day in different different parts of India.
If you read Punjabi newspapers like Ajit, everyday there is a news of deaths in road accidents.

A serious overhaul is needed in this area. During last year 1,80,000 people died in road accidents in India.
