100 AC BUSES TO BE INTRODUCED IN PUNJAB

As many as 100 air-conditioned buses will be introduced by Punjab Roadways and Pepsu Road Transport Corporation (PRTC) in Punjab, according to Minister for Transport Master Mohan Lal.
Talking to mediapersons here last night, he said these buses will run on long routes, particularly to the religious and historical places, Ordinary fares will be charged from passengers of these buses.
Master Mohan Lal added that an insurance scheme for bus passengers is also being implemented in the state soon. As part of this scheme, all bus passengers will be provided an insurance cover of Rs 2 lakh each. He disclosed that all those buses which complete 10 years of operation by March 2009 will be withdrawn from the fleet of Punjab Roadways and PRTC. New buses will be provided in their place, he pointed out.
The minister also disclosed that the a new bus stand will be constructed opposite the Nirankari Bhawan in Rupnagar on BOT basis. The construction of the bus stand will begin in next three months. Besides this, two bus stands will be constructed at Patiala and Bathinda, he pointed out.
