Statue of Liberty is one of the most recognizable symbol of America. It was designed by French sculptor Frederic Auguste Bartholdi. The construction of the statue was completed in France in July 1884. The statue arrived in New York Harbor on June 17, 1885. On October 28, 1886, the Statue of Liberty was unveiled by President Grover Cleveland in front of thousands of spectators.
And it even functioned as a lighthouse from 1886 to 1902.
Nowadays more than 3.2 million people visit it yearly.
