42-year-old Philippe Croizon is the first man without arms and legs who could cross the 22-mile-wide (35,4 km) English Channel (French: la Manche) that separates England and France. Phileppe lost his arms and legs after a horrific incident 16 years ago. He had received a powerful electrical discharge of current while trying to fix a television antenna. Two years ago he was watching the documentary about the swimmers who were crossing the channel, when he decided that he was able to do the same. He started practicing 30 hours a week. And he succeeded. Wearing a special swimsuit he started his race the British port of Folkestone at 7.00 am, he finished the race at 9.13 pm in the French city of Wissant. Amazing.
