“Napoleonic complex”

The “Napoleonic complex” is a myth.

Being short doesn’t make men more aggressive. Scientists have found that taller men are more aggressive and have shorter tempers. When short men are aggressive, people incorrectly attribute their aggression to their height, because their short height is one of their most recognizable features.

A psychology experiment debunked the Napoleonic complex (aka “Short Man Syndrome”) by comparing the heart rates of short and tall men in an activity designed to make them lose their temper. For this experiment, called the “Chopstick Game”, scientists made their test subjects repeatedly hit each other in the knuckles with chopsticks. The taller men, on average, got more frustrated by this activity and were more likely to strike back.
