Does redesigning of Brand Logo push sale??

I want to know your opinion on re-designing of Brand Logo.

Lot of Big brands have changed their logo hoping it will make sales go northward.
Nowdays terms like go green, lean and thin, organic etc are catching up.
Brands are re-designing their logo accordingly.
