The iphone offers yesterday specs: a dual core processor, a retina display (which is 720p at 326 pixel per inch) and a restricted UI.
Compare that to s4's current generation processor (either quad core snapdragon 600\exynos octa), a 1080p screen display with 441 pixels per inch and the freedom to do what you want (because android is an open operating system which means you can customize it to your liking - no jailbreaking!)
Quite clearly the S4 trumps the iphone 5, well atleast on the spec's side.
But its really down to what you want in a smartphone.
If you want simplicity in use, a big selection of apps to download, uniformity in function (ios is very stable with little to no lag which is why it can do with 2 cores as oppose to 4), a decent 8mp camera - then the iphone 5 is your best bet.
If you want some snappy processing power (which would probably be evident if you're a gamer), a big selection of apps to download (android is almost on par with ios in terms of no. of apps), a great 13mp camera and a bigger gorgeous display (especially if you're big on viewing movies on your phone), s4 will treat you nicely.
