Wayne Parnell swept away four trophies at the Cape Cobras Awards held on Monday (May 30). The left-arm pacer won Player of the Year, One-Day Cup Player of the Year, 20-over Player of the Year and Players' Player of the Year.

Parnell last appeared for South Africa in July last year in a Twenty20 International against Bangladesh in Dhaka. However, he made giant strides in domestic cricket by bagging 16 wickets at an average of 23 in the One-Day Cup. Despite starting the season with a foot injury, Parnell didn't just contribute with the ball, but also scored 237 runs at an average of 47.40 in Ram Slam T20.

His performances helped him earn a recall into the national side for the upcoming tri-series in the Caribbean, involving West Indies and Australia.

"I have not seen Wayne play this well for many summers. It is a just reward for good, consistent performances," gushed Paul Adams, the Cape Cobras coach.

Dane Vilas was adjudged the first-class Player of the Year after he scored 761 runs at an average of 69.18. "Dane picked himself up so quickly after being dropped from the South African team. People forget that he is not only a wicketkeeper, but a dynamic presence with the bat," Adams said about Vilas's performance.
