Abu Dhabi: Thrifty Car Rental, powered by four half-centuries from their top order batting, earned a final showdown with United Bank Limited in the ADCC President's Cup Division Two tournament.

The Thrifty team outclassed Al Fahim by 148 runs, while UBL overcame UAE Exchange Centre by a 77-run margin. Syed Nawaz led Thrifty's charge with a 25-ball knock of 50 studded with four sixes and the same number of fours. He departed after dominating a 76-run stand for the first wicket with Nazar Hussain, who went on to make 64.

Hussain hit nine fours and a six and added a further 102 with Mohammad Muzammil, the top scorer with 65. Muzammil smashed five sixes and three fours and then Mohammad Siraj gate-crashed the party with an 18-ball knock of 52 not out.

Thrifty posted 261 for three and then Siraj and Mohammad Raza took six wickets between them to dismiss Al Fahim for 113. Nadeem Zubair and Abdullah Rahman shared a 158-run stand for the second wicket to set up UBL's victory.

Opening batsman Zubair made a top score of 90 from 48 deliveries. He blasted 10 fours and five sixes, while Rahman's 47-ball 60 contained seven hits to the fence and three clearing the boundary.

The opening match of the Division One Al Hamad Contracting Cup at the Zayed Stadium turned out to be a mismatch.

Etihad Flyers were skittled for 66 and the sponsor's team knocked off the required runs in just over six overs with the result that a game to be played over 100 overs ended with more than 70 overs to spare.

Fayyaz Ahmad, the UAE international, took five for 12 from 5.3 overs after Mohammad Tanweer and Yousuf Butt had picked up the first five wickets to fall to pave the way for Al Hamad Contracting's emphatic eight-wicket win.

Abdul Kader hit a breezy 80 not out to steer Emistate Realty to a two-wicket win over Emirates Cricket Board Greens.
